Howdy. I just bought the first DVD set (6 episodes from '66) used for $20!
I've watched the first 3 episodes this week, and am about to watch the 4th tonight: The Girl from Auntie.

I'm glad to finally be seeing the show. I'm also glad I watched the movie first, because I was able to enjoy it immensely. Now that I'm watching the original series, I can see why people were upset about the movie. But lucky me, I got to enjoy them both. =)

Ah, welcome to wonderful world of The Avengers, and the wonderful world of Mrs. Peel. The Girl from Auntie is the one where Mrs. Peel is in a rather nice bathing suit at the beginning, yes?

It's been a while since I watched them. I really should go through them again. I have all of Mrs. Peel, all but one set of Mrs. King, and am missing 3 or 4 of the Cathy Gale sets (which/who I don't really care for). There's also still The New Avengers to pick up.

The Girl from Auntie... I think Mrs. Peel was in a bathing suit at the beginning, yes. Hrrmm. But the more memorable outfit was the (lightly) feathered one she wore in the bird cage (inside which she spent most of the episode).

Are all the episodes you have on DVD? I wasn't even sure if they're all out on DVD yet...

the girl from auntie is an excellent episode. i am one of the shows fans who enjoyed the film. my heros shaun ryder and eddie izzard play bully boys in the film. how cool is that?

I have yet to catch anything from the Cathy Gale years, and I am rather fond of Mrs. Peel (we're needed)....

Tara Kind was alright... but she was a little bit... I don't know.... helpless.... the whole bricks in the purse rather than kung-fu thing really didn't do it for me.

The interplay between Peel and Steed was perfection. Any other partnership to follow on any any other show (say... the X-Files) has to live up to the standard set by MacNee and Rigg.
